data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Abraham Rosenbaum, a butcher by trade, was born in 1879 in Dorstfeld. He followed his father in the profession, and also inherited his father\u2019s house in Arminiusstrasse.<\/p><p>In 1920, he married Emma S\u00fcssmann from Altenbeken, with whom he had two sons, Ernst and G\u00fcnter, both born in Dortmund in 1921 and 1926irespectively. Both sons left the parental home temporarily on several occasions, but always returned after short periods of time. G\u00fcnter lived with his parents right up to his deportation in 1942.<\/p><p>The fate of Abraham and Emma is unknown. After the war, both were declared dead, and a corresponding claim for compensation was made.<\/p><p>G\u00fcnter was initially deported to the area of Zamocs, near Lublin, but from then on all trace of him disappears. However, the prisoners on the relevant transport were murdered soon after their arrival, either in one of the mass shootings or in the extermination camps of Sobibor, Belzec and Majdanek, so that in all probability he fell victim to the Holocaust.<\/p><p>Ernst Rosenbaum was the only member of the family to survive, having fled first to Belgium and then to France, where he was interned in the St. Cyprien and Gurs camps. His stays in various concentration camps, including Auschwitz and Dachau, can be documented, and he was liberated from the latter in time to prevent him being murdered.
